Overview:
This beautiful neighborhood is located on the West side of Houston.
This Gazebo is located just inside the main gates and is seen by everyone that enters every day. Before the new lighting was installed, only the G50 style lights lined the roofline, and some existing eve lights were installed on the first and second level.
Priorities:
Upgrade the dock lighting.
The HOA wanted to upgrade the dock lighting as well as bring out the landscape and the waterfall that was not visible at all at night without lighting. They did not think it was possible to illuminate the four Crane Sculptures, but that was an added bonus to the design.
Challenges:
The biggest challenge for this project was doing some work out of boats.
The lighting on the dock before was solar, but this was replaced with low voltage lighting, so wire had to be run and hidden under the wood.
Also, lighting the artwork in the water where the level changes up to 4 feet based on rainfall and making sure they were properly was also a fun hurdle to overcome.
Solution:
To address the dock section directional marker lights were staggered to make the boardwalk to the gazebo inviting.
Waterproof boxes were installed under the dock and wire was run in conduit to hide and protect it from the elements. The large Oak had to be lit from the island also from the water line to show off the entire canopy.
Underwater lights were installed on piers similar to the way the four birds were lit. All of that work was done from small boats. The waterfall was down lit from trees to show the falls at the back. The upgraded lighting was a hit with all of the residents.
